Ridgeback Winery is
a private company owned by the Thompson family of Longwood,
Florida. The Thompson's have two big loves: their dogs, Rosco and
Zanta, and wine. They decided to expand their hobby of home wine
production into a business, naming it after the dog breed they so
enjoy. |

The Rhodesian Ridgeback, named for its distinguished marking down
the back, is one of only a few breeds of dogs that originate in
Africa. A sturdy breed, the Rhodesian Ridgeback was used in packs to
hunt lions and hold them at bay until the lion was killed by the
hunter. |
